  Took my car in to have a tire patched. Lied to me about the price, ended up paying double what they said to me, were rude when I mentioned it. This was my first time there.They don't care about customer relations as they are the only official auto shop on Gabriola and you're forced to go there.

  I had the best automotive repair experience of my life at this mechanic. Having fairly recently moved to the island I was a little reluctant to try a small island repair shop. But my check engine light had recently come on, my Jeep was running rough, so I stopped by and asked the cost of a diagnostic, and they told me less than $50 so I gave them a try.

  When I brought it back, the fellow very quickly told me it was actually a universal joint issue. Even invited me into the bay to show me. They quoted me about $310 including labour to fix, so I went ahead and scheduled the work. When I asked how much it was for the diagnosis, they told me not to worry, they would just tack a few bucks onto the repair.

  Brought it in for my appointment, and went for a walk, and when I came back the girl was having trouble getting a reading from the onboard computer. After trying for about a half hour, she suggested that I bring it back when a certain mechanic was working, and he would be better suited to figure out the problem. She seemed to think it was an O2 valve issue based on my description of the problem, but I made an appointment to bring it back.

  Did a bit of research on O2 censors, and it sounded like she was right, and that was the issue. Still, I almost cancelled my new appointment and brought it to the island to a dealer, but glad I didn't.

  So a few days later the repair is carried out. I'm thinking probably about $350, to my astonishment it's just over $200. AND it's now running perfectly.
